Join the South Dakota Artists Network

South Dakota Artists Network (SDAN ... we say "sedan") is a community of artists supporting individual creative expression. We organize retreats, exhibitions and other programs to offer networking for all types of artists, writers and performers. Current membership comprises approximately 90 artists, administrators or aficionados from South Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and beyond.

SDAN membership includes access to membership lists, attendance at fall and spring retreats, as well as participation on SDAN projects such as the website and other programs. We are in the development stages of a statewide artists brochure.

Our website is one of the most popular features of SDAN membership. Website members get gallery pages to input images and information. You can now sign up for 2009. Please fill in appropriate areas on the membership form.

Message from Ruth Napier, Membership:

SDAN is able to hold their dues at the same rate this year. Membership will be $10. Web sites will be $30 to set up a new site, $20 to maintain following years. All dues are due NOW.

No, there was not a retreat or get-together last year as there was not enough interest. Most of our membership stated they were members for the website and the newsletters.

Following your interests SDAN is going to:
1. Rebuild the web site. Bring it up to 2010. -- New colors. -- More appealing, and easier to use. --Maybe artists listed as East and West River--Take out sections not used. --Not be slave to advertisers for junk not pertaining to our group.

SDAN Summer 08 Retreat

It was decided by those in attendance that one (1) meeting a year would be enought. We would try and hold this meeting in the summer - off school time - as several members are teachers. No time, place or agenda was set. It was discussed that a central location may be better with the high price of gas.

As you can see, we don't have anything organized for this year's annual Retreat/Workshop. And the response to Ruth's recent request for member opinions and suggestions has not been the best. Is there a lack of interest or motivation? Let's find out.

Those current SDAN members (paid up) who can, will be asked to attend an 'organizational meeting' in Chamberlain to discuss, decide and then vote on what the future holds for SDAN as a viable organization for South Dakota Artists... no holds barred... time and place to be announced.
